Dear readers,
I bet I am not the only one waking up in the morning or coming back home after a long day and feeling like my skin needs some loving. Some skin food? Well, the Korean brand called Skinfood has been notoriously known in Korea for their pot facial masks. Originally, they launched their main line with three highlight wash-off masks; two scrubs and one pore-tightening formula. Quite recently though, they extended the line with a secondary wash-off mask launch containing six new formulas, all of them using a specific ingredient to treat a targeted skin concern; honey sugar to nourish, strawberry sugar to clarify, apricot to soothe, lavender to relax, pear mint to cool and lemon dill butter to brightens.
It is preferable to use on cleansed skin, it is recommended to leave it on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing off with warm water (although I sometimes keep it way longer and it is totally fine). They are quick face masks that are absolutely perfect for those with busy schedules and on-the-go lifestyles. Another point to mention is that the packaging is so satisfying; the pots pills up nicely on top of one another, they do not feel cheaper and are sealed-proof if you need to take them with you on trips.

It is a leave-on mask made with 100% real black sugar that effectively exfoliates, smoothes, revitalizes, moisturizes and clears clogged pores. It is formulated with macadamia seed oil, meadowfoam seed oil and shea butter to nourish and improve your skin complexion. Bye-bye dead cells and hello smooth skin. Another Skinfood bestseller, the Rice Mask Wash Off is a creamy mild scrubbing mask that lifts off excess oil and dirt from the skin’s surface to keep the complexion clear and soft while also improving the skin texture. It contains little rice grains that feel so great on the skin, vitamins, minerals and gamma oryzanol that moisturizes and brightens the skin. Also, it has rich rice water to fight ageing, which we all appreciate. You really feel like your skin is more bouncy with a mochi-looking finish once you rinse the mask off. It is ideal for any skin type; dry, normal, oily, combination and sensitive.

And the last was-off mask that is part of the original Skinfood line is their Egg White Pore Mask. It is the first mask I have ever tried from the brand and it is the one that got me hooked on their masks. I have been using it for years now and still, I have never been disappointed once. It absorbs like there is no tomorrow your sebum, deeply cleanses your pores and tightens enlarged pores. Its featured ingredients are albumin, which are amino acids found in egg whites that promote healthy skin due to their naturally high-quality protein sources. As a result of leaving the mask on for 10 minutes, your skin is smooth, moisturized and visibly refined. It is perfect if you are heading for an event and need a little extra pore tightening.
4. Scrub Secondary Line: Skinfood Black Sugar Strawberry Mask
Rating: 4 / 5
Highlights:
Nice scent
Smooth application
Exfoliates skin
Melts on the skin
What we don’t like:
Sugar particles can be a little aggressive on the face if scrubbed with too much pressure
Now, we are exploring the secondary line by Skinfood. It is a fun bunch of wash-off masks that allow you to have self-administered home care every day depending on your skin concern and area. The Black Sugar Strawberry Mask Wash is the baby brother to the original Black Sugar. It also contains real black sugar grains and BHAs to remove dead skin and sebum excess but has an added strawberry food extract to help revitalize the skin. When you apply it on your skin, you feel the melting sugar texture thanks to its strawberry seed oil content, which is so enjoyable, just like the strawberry scent that is just delightful (eating it may be tempting but please be advised not to do it).
5. Soothing: Skinfood Hydrate & Soothe Lavender Food Mask

Absolutely love this Lavender Food Mask. First of all, the smell is to die for. Second, the texture is so nice; a bouncy gel texture keeps the formula from running on your face. It contains 10% lavender water, lavender flower and panthenol to soothe and hydrate the skin. The used distillation method for clean and clear lavender extraction ensures that this wash-off mask is perfect for sensitive and damaged skin. So what you are left with is a soft, relaxed and plump skin. It does an amazing job at soothing and calming your skin down.

For those out there that are not fruit fans, did you know that apricots are rich in antioxidants that help take care of early signs of ageing and also act as an excellent skin-soothing ingredient? This creamy Trouble Care Apricot Food Mask contains 10% of apricot extract and calamine that help to calm, moisturize, deep cleanse and calm sensitive skin as well as reduce redness. The added kaolin helps with regulating oil production and absorbs any excess sebum to leave the skin purified and cleared. Super nice scent, it spreads on your face so smoothly.
7. Cleansing: Skinfood Deep Cleanse Pear Mint Food Mask

8. Moisturizing: Skinfood Moisturize & Exfoliate Honey Sugar
Food Mask
Rating: 4 / 5
Highlights:
Nice scent
Honey-like texture
Smooth skin finish

What we don’t like:
Sugar particles can be a little aggressive on the face if scrubbed with too much pressure
Moving on to honey now. Honey is known for its natural enzyme that have excellent moisturizing properties as well as gently cleansing pores. The Honey Sugar Food Mask gently formula is thick enough to deliver the core ingredients deep into the skin layers and prevent the mask from running down your face, which is the most annoying part of most honey-based facial masks. Considered a scrub, your stressed skin will be left smoothed out by the black sugar grains. It is an alternative to the strawberry and original black sugar scrubs.
9. Brightening: Skinfood Brightening & Moisturize Lemon Dill Butter Food Mask
Rating: 4 / 5
Highlights:
Moisturizing
Brightening
Contains niacinamide
Fresh lemon scent
Soft butter texture
What we don’t like:
Not as brightening as the Rice mask
